Community Supported Living Arrangements (CSLA)

Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. provides drop-in services including supervision, support, and direct care to clients who choose to live with their families or in their own homes through the Community Supported Living Arrangements (CSLA) program. Our emphasis is on participant independence and community involvement. Our CSLA program involves direct and close oversight from administrators and direct-care staff.

The CSLA program offers support services - usually between twenty and thirty hours per week - on a contract basis to over forty clients and their families in Carroll and Montgomery counties. These services are designed to promote independence in the community. Staff persons are available to assist participants with most daily needs. Services include assistance, as needed, with daily living skills including budgeting and money management, cooking and nutrition, cleaning, shopping, fitness and exercise, and transportation.

An important part of every person’s life is social interactions and community involvement. The CSLA program recognizes the value of social activities and provides various opportunities in this area, engaging clients in normalizing community activities such as exercise, art, acting classes, the Walking Club / Rockville 5K, the Bulls Eye Club (BEC), picnics, dances, and other social activities.

While some CSLA client services are provided through private payments, these services are sometimes available through a type of DDA funded support. Through DDA support, CSLA participants are awarded a number of service hours per week. This number is assigned as a result of family, provider, Service Coordinator and DDA input. The service hours are provided based upon the schedule and needs of the participant. Individuals can have as few as 5 hours per week and as many as 80 hours per week, based upon need.

"They transport me to and from work... taking me out into the community so I learn to be more independent." Click to hear more from this Target Community & Educational Services client.
